Me Made May: Day 3

I didn't wear this all day, as a matter of fact, I just made it.  This is the skirt that I am going to teach as part of my Kid's Camp at Bernina this June.  I have never taught a whole group of kids before and I am trying to pick projects that appeal to a younger audience (while keeping my interest too).  I love teaching young folks because they always seem to love the finished product as much as I do.

The pattern came from the book, "Freestyle Handmade Bags and Skirts".  The directions are vague and the cutting diagrams do not include the seam allowance.  I learned this the hard way.  For me to actually wear the skirt, I need a little more fabric to cover my round rear end adequately.   The illustrations are also pretty tiny.  Perhaps my eyes are old.  I really want to like this book because I think it has some appeal to a younger sewer.  I will see how the next project goes.  The skirt sure is cute though.

In other news...my little garden made it through it's first day...

and I also got these really great little farm rings at BonBon.  They are so fun.  I want more.

  1. That skirt is adorable! I love ties and pockets...but i don't love a vague pattern. I think there is a piggy ring with your name on it!
