Me Made May: Day 9

I have a few more tricks up my sleeve, but I am trying to buy myself a little more time before I have to start repeating.  So today my husband filled in for me on the Me Made May challenge.  I did make the shirt, so in my book it's not technically cheating.  I was trying to recall how long ago I made this shirt.  I think it was about 5 years.  I know that it was the first garment that I ever made and I remember having some issues.  First, it was one of those patterns with a gazillion pieces.  Also not exactly a beginner project.  I know that the collar stand turned out a little strange, but hey, it looks great with a tie.  I definitely learned how to use the button hole on my machine and also got to use the button sew on foot.  These are two of my favorite sewing machine features to date.  How I love the way my little bernina can make buttons a breeze.

I also worked on a couple of quilt blocks for the KC Scrappy Bee.  Have a great week.

  1. Great shirt - I'm impressed that that was your first project. I've been back to sewing a couple of years and still won't try anything like that. Now I guess I need to.

Husbands are great - they seem to appreciate what we make for them - I know mine is constantly begging for something new.

  3. Enjoyed the class tonight! I learned a few new things, too! Please pass on our thanks for letting us have the class at Bernina. Plenty of room and much closer to home than usual for me. :)

  4. Lookie! Another comment for your work! ;)

I think all of the clothes you make are so neat. Every time I see you I think, "Oh, I bet she made that!"

Collars were always hard for me.
