Procrastination Giveaway

I have a tendency to be a procrastinator. I am currently so busy that I am procrastinating at procrastination. Maybe this makes sense, maybe not. What I mean is that I have so much going on, that everything is done in the last possible minute. As a result, I am putting off my ability to procrastinate.

Okay, enough overthinking or justifying my untimely behavior. Several months ago, I think May-ish, I did some test sewing for one of my many favorite pattern designers. I love this project. It is perfect parts math nerd and sewing geek. Shea of Empty Bobbin Sewing has a great way of coming up with fun sewing projects and turning them into patterns. Like me, she is a detail girl. Unlike me, she has a way with written language. The result is pure magic. Her patterns are fresh and fun with just the right amount of detail. I like to think that I have a little to do with the detail part. The sewing cover was the first pattern that I tested for her. One of the awesome things that she does for her pattern testers is that she sends them three copies of the finished pattern. One is to keep, one for a friend and one to give away on your blog.

So readers, my procrastination is your gain!! Get it while it's hot. Leave a comment telling me a procrastination story, best story wins. I will give you a week...unless of course I forget or put it off another week or two.

  1. Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow. Current procrastinations include cleaning my stove, taking out the recycling, and vacuuming.

  2. Um, well, my procrastination is actually having to do with exactly this type of project. I found a pattern and strawberry fabric that I plan to use to make covers for my toaster & my KitchenAid mixer. Yeah, that was 7 months ago. Even though our home is kept fairly clean (with the exception of my creativity room), the dust that settles itself onto my most used equipment - including my Bernina - makes me crazy. So, I guess instead of saying, "Oh, I'll get to it this winter."; I'd best get to making those covers tomorrow so that I hopefully win the Sewing Cover and no longer need to worry about that dust on my beloved Bernina any longer!

  3. Procrastination kills potential...This is my motto! (Actually my husband says this to me all the time, so it's his motto for me) I feel my procrastination tendency really kicks in when I make a list. I will keep adding things I've already done so that I can cross them off quickly...I feel so guilty!

  5. Sew Many Projects, Sew Little Time... I am the queen of procrastination. I have so many projects/ideas to sew, it seems I will never get them all done. I plan the perfect time in my mind as to when/how I will execute my next WONDERFUL project while I'm working my 9-5 m-f ( since I have to have a day job to support my stash habbit ), Visions of unique creations dance in my head and finally, when it's time to set off for home I exit the office with every intention of finishing/staring that project, but then once I get home I am mislead by my favorite blogs, I follow link after link, looking and looking at other people's creativity, making lists of more projects and the notions and supplies I will need to purchase, then by the time my mind is full of others wonderful creations I'm too tired to do my own sewing.

Well I'm really not that bad but you get the picture. To be honest my late husband use to think that my sewing was just my way of procrastinating when I ought to be doing the laundry, dishes, scrubbing floors or one of the million other dull duties that bore me to death. So I am actually procrastinating at my procrastination!

I would love this sewing machine cover pattern so I that I may use it as a procrastination tool at any given time. :)

  6. I've been procrastinating about making a machine cover. I even bought a pattern about 5 years ago! I like this one much better - maybe if I win I'll feel guilty enough to actually do it!

  7. My procrastination story looks more like a running to-do list...
    1. Change of address notifications to all the companies that would like me to pay them each month.
    2. Unpack the 70% of our moving boxes that remain untouched.
    3. Call my Mother.
    4. Set up my sewing machine and attempt to combine 2 pieces of fabric.
    5. By a new planner.
    6. Call my Mother.
    7. Attend the Salt Lake City Modern Quilting Guild Meeting.
    8. Post on Jaime's blog.
    + dozens more.

The thing is, I know why I am procrastinating. All of the above remind me of home. It is hard to be reminded of home and family and friends and community, when none of it is accessible to me.

All this procrastination has given me the opportunity to spend my time outdoors. The glorious, humidity free, mountain-candy outdoors:)

One thing that will NOT fall victim to my procrastination - purchasing kit to make that GORGEOUS quilt I just spied on Shea's newest pattern. Beautiful, Jaime! I LOVE IT!
